Poster Guidelines
Who should prepare a poster? - ALL ICIUM PARTICIPANTS WITH AN ACCEPTED ABSTRACT (including those accepted for an oral presentation) should bring their own printed poster to Antalya.
- ALL accepted abstracts, whether or not they are presented orally, should be prepared as posters. This will give participants the greatest opportunity to learn about the full range of experiences presented at ICIUM 2011.
When will posters be displayed? -
Posters will be displayed for the entire duration of the conference.
How should posters be constructed?
- Total poster size should be 1.00m high x 1.30m wide.
- As far as possible, posters should be prepared using standard-sized slides (190.5mm x 254 mm) in MS PowerPoint or an equivalent presentation program. If your poster is to be presented orally, a few of these slides can be the basis for the presentation (LCD projectors will be available in all sessions).
- The PowerPoint slides can be printed on A4-sized pages (210mm x 297mm) or another format, such as a single large sheet, that will fit the poster space. Click here for an example of how 13 A4-sized pages can fill your allocated poster space.
- Conference organizers have arranged to have a banner with poster title and author names and affiliations prepared for all ICIUM 2011 posters. These banners will be placed on your assigned poster board prior to your arrival in Antalya. Therefore, you do not need to produce a poster banner to pin up with your PowerPoint format poster. For those of you who do not need a title banner, you can simply place your poster over the banner we have produced.
- Adhesive will be provided to hang the posters.
What should a poster contain?
- The poster usually would consist of a Title Banner (study title, names & affiliations of authors) and up to 13 content pages.
- The poster should present a concise summary of your study. In order to tell your story effectively, the content pages should include:
- 1 page: Your final accepted Abstract (must follow the Abstract Submission Guidelines and fit on a single A4-sized page)
- 1-2 pages: Introduction/Background
- 1 page: Objectives/Study Questions
- 1-3 pages: Methods (if study is an intervention, describe how it was carried out)
- 3-5 pages: Results (including charts and graphs)
- 1-2 pages: Implications/Conclusions
What fonts and colors should be used on the poster? - Use large fonts to make your poster more readable. The following font sizes are recommended:
- Title Bar: 42-48 point bold, title of study in all capitals
- Headers: 30-36 point bold (for example, Introduction, or Objectives)
- Body Text: at least 20 point (should be able to read from a distance of 2 meters)
- Abstract: 14 point, with title underlined and bold, authors and affiliations bold
- Black or dark blue text on white will be easiest to read.
Can the poster contain diagrams or pictures?
- Visually appealing materials will make the poster more attractive, and they should be included to complement the text of your poster. However, please try to remain within the confines of a standard-sized PowerPoint slide so the materials can be translated easily to web format.
How will information on the posters be disseminated? -
Final accepted abstract will be accessible on the online repository of conference materials. For inclusion with these materials, final posters must by uploaded as a PDF attachment into the conference database (ConfTool) by November 9th, 2011.
